    I find this Photo interesting because quilt auctions are still popular among Mennonites today. Even in northern New York every year there is at least one auction where quilts are sold to help raise money. This is a great way for people in the community to raise money for good causes and share these great pieces of art.

    Thanks for your comment. The Michiana Mennonite Relief Sale has been going strong for over 40 years. However, relief sales are not without criticism. Some Mennonites have seen the sales, auctions, and raffles as being akin to Catholic festivals and bingo fundraisers and ask why we need incentives to donate money to charitable causes. If you're interested in exploring the history of relief sales, there's material in the archives for you to do that.
