Jozef-Ernest van Roey (13 January 1874 – 6 August 1961) was a Belgian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Mechelen from 1926 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1927. He was significant figure in Catholic resistance to Nazism in Belgium. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jozef-Ernest_van_Roey

Mechelen (locally pronounced [ˈmɛxələ(n)], French Malines, English traditional name Mechlin) is a Dutch-speaking city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium. The municipality comprises the city of Mechelen proper, some quarters at its outskirts, the hamlets of Nekkerspoel (adjacent) and Battel (a few kilometers away), as well as the villages of Walem, Heffen, Leest, Hombeek, and Muizen. The Dijle flows through the city, hence the term 'Dijlestad' ("City on the river Dijle"). Mechelen lies on the major urban and industrial axis Brussels-Antwerp, about 25 km from each city. This seems to be the Schepenhuis.

trialsanderrors, thanks for providing the alternate spelling. The Library's official subject heading for the city is Mechelen, so we'll add that to the record.
