Could be Kathleen Mary Drew (1901-1957), listed in Ogilvie and Harvey, The Biographical Dictionary of Women in Science as "British botanist....Drew was a distinguished worker in the field of red algae. She spent most of her academic life in the department of cryptogamic botany at the University of Manchester....she spent two years in the United States, working at the University of California. During this time, she produced systematic studies and her first substantial monograph....She was one of the founders of the British Phycological Society and was its first president."

Walker Bros (Wigan) railcar in the background similar to those used on the Co Donegal Railway. Four of these were bought in 1951 (numbered 286-9) according to H.C. Casserley's Outline of Irish Railway History.

Is the location wrong on this one? Ennis station is in the middle of nowhere and the station building itself doesn't match the roofline visible on the left.

derangedlemur I'm not convinced it's Ennis either. The only possibility I see is here on the GeoHive 25", which is now an ESB yard.. But that two storey building with all the chimney pots doesn't fit.

Hodder Place info on wikipedia. It was the prep school for Stonyhurst. National Library of Ireland on The Commons That's what I thought - particularly finally joining his older brother.

Sharon Corbet So Louie is probably more properly Louis then. And as Hodder Place was near Clitheroe in Lancashire, that makes Louis an honorary Clitheroe Kid.

Possibly the vase and steps are on the east (shaded) side of the building - Google satellite view - www.google.com.au/maps/place/Hodder+Place,+Knowles+Brow,+... I think the young gentlemen are happy to find a tennis ball in the vase. Finders keepers!
