    RAHS Yes, but I never knew that even living in Clontarf for a few years! It's a peculiar semi-forgotten part of the harbour. At the time of this photo, Clontarf was a popular place for a picnic via a ferry (see jetty). And in 1868 it was the scene of an assassination attempt on Prince Alfred (2nd son of Queen Victoria) - dictionaryofsydney.org/entry/assassination_attempt_on_pri...

    colinbm Excellent, thank you Yes, the railway bridge is in the foreground, then the Cooks River dam is in the mid-ground. We are looking SE. Sydney is to the left. On the RHS of the bridge, in the trees is Tempe House. Because it is still a dam and not a bridge, a tentative date is early 1890s.
