I am not 100% sure, but it looks very like the "People Gardens" in the Phoenix Park, Dublin My image taken in May 2010, looks like it could have been taken from the same spot... www.flickr.com/photos/38016434@N05/4974687379/

Michael Kelly Thanks a million! I think you could be right about the Phoenix Park because of the hilly nature of the area too! It's the building on the horizon that's ringing Phoenix Park bells for me though...

Per the DIA it may be by James Gandon or may be William Gibson, and opened in 1790. That Malton is from 1794 when it was brand new.
