BA Eagle, Stinson, Beech 17, DH Dragon Henry White was employed by Vacuum Oil as their UK based Aviation Representative at Heston between (at least) 1933 and 1936. The Eagle’s perambulations are explained in my database! 116 Regd G-ADYY [CofR 6560] 9.12.35 to Hubert Holliday, [MD of and nominee for] Vacuum Oil Co Ltd, Hanworth. CofA 5277 issued 12.12.35. Flown 12.35-2.36 by Henry J White on 6,000 ml tour to Niamey and Sahara. Regd [CofR 8021] 22.7.37 to Stanley Leigh, London SW1 (based Heston); operated by Vacuum Oil; later by Intava Ltd – a JV between Vacuum Oil & Anglo-American Oil Co. Regd [CofR 8868] 4.11.38 to John Henry Crook, London EC2 (based Heston). CofA lapsed 17.2.40. Regn cld 24.7.45 by Secretary of State as sold abroad. By early .45, it was found at RNAS Piarco, Trinidad on rebuild for Canadian pilot owner. Regd VP-TAM 7.45. Wfu .49. As for the Dragon G-ACGK, this was also operated by Vacuum Oil but I do not have a note of its exploits in Hungary, unless it was en route Java – history: 6033 DH.84 (Gipsy Major #5226/5227) Regd G‑ACGK [CofR 4357] 1.6.33 to Eric Cecil Gordon England, general manager and nominee for Vacuum Oil Co Ltd, Hanworth. CofA 3968 issued 30.6.33; dd 3.7.33. Flown on tour to Java; returned to UK 11.33. Flown on survey flight England-Australia and return 12.33-1.34 (56 days and 340 f/hrs), piloted by Vacuum’s sales manager Henry J [Edward] White. Delivered 9/10.7.34 and regd [CofR 5227] 11.7.34 to Highland Airways Ltd, Inverness, named "Loch Ness". Ditched 20yds off beach in Moray Firth, nr Inverness 8.1.35 following power loss caused by carburetor icing; pilot Eric Coleman. Salvaged but not rebuilt. Regn cld 12.34 as wfu (sic) (or 2Q.35). Also based at Heston with Vacuum Oil and flown by White were Stinson Junior R NC12157 (deld Heston July 1932 and later OO-HVS) and Beech 17 NC12584 (which did a European tour in August 1934).
