This is a Republic F-84 Thunderjet about to take off from what appears to be Runway 19 at Republic Airport (FRG / KFRG). If the frame of the photo was wider, to the right you would see Republic Aviation's primary manufacturing plant at Republic Airport. Below is a link just to the east (approx. 50 meters) of the likely point from which this photo was taken. This is another aerial photo of Republic Airport (FRG / KFRG) in Farmingdale, Long Island. The point of view is from the south looking north. The hangar and tower on the right side of the frame is the same as the one in the photo below.

In the hangar doorway is one of the Douglas C-54 transport Republic converted to civil airliners for American Airlines(70) and other carriers around 1946-1947...this was valuable bread and butter work in the cut-backs period

Hendrix is next to Republic F-105D (F-105D-20-RE) Thunderchief, USAF Serial No. 61-0146. This aircraft is still extant and on display at Century Circle at Edwards Air Force Base.
