they are not different exposures. They are exactly same exposure with different colour filter.

i think that since it is old that the photographer followed the rule of taking three exposures to obtain the correct end result.

You dont know who he is, right? Its technique that allowed him to shoot colour before colour film was made. Look at his other work and you will get how tricolor works :)
