THe station dates from c. 1860 according to the NIAH. The DIA says that it opened in 1862, and was designed by George Wilkinson.

The NIAH also has the Footbridge, Water tower, Waiting Room and Signal Box, all of which date from c. 1860. Though looking at streetview, the water tower seems to be gone now - probably when they added the ramp.

Apparently this is the tomb of Feidlim Ua Conchobair (a.k.a. Fedhlim O'Connor) and is in the Dominican Priory in Roscommon which he founded in 1253.

OSI 25" The NIAH doesn't have an article on the Abbey itself, only the 19th Century graveyard in the grounds. There is also an article from The Journal of the Kilkenny and South-East of Ireland Archaeological Society from 1866 called "Some Remarks on O'Connor's Tomb at Roscommon" which goes into the history of the different parts of the tomb.

The photo would seem to have been taken from the Roscommon side of the river looking upstream but the power station is in Longford. Post bailey bridge days too, I notice.
