He came to New York on 2/19/15: "Admiral Baron Shigetoo Dewa, Naval Counselor to the Japanese Emperor, who came to this country to represent the Emperor at the opening of the Panama Canal and of the Panama-Pacific Exposition, arrived at the Astor from Washington yesterday, accompanied by his aides, Commander Seizo Kobayashi and Lieut. Commander Yoshitake Uyeda. " query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9E04E2DD1238E633A... An amusing episode on his visit happened when officials in Buffalo, New York, misreading a telegram abut arrangements for his arrival, mistakenly planned a large celebration for Admiral Dewey: query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9E00E5D81E3EE733A...
