Caption: Ralpf Imhoff, (right) chair of the Board at the Mennonite Home for the Aged, Eureka,IL, and Clayton Sutter, superintendent, inspect the panel of the fire detection system being installed at the Home. The system indicates the area and floor on which an abnormal rise in temperature occurs and automatically sounds an alarm in the building and at the telephone office. The operator at the switchboard will immediately call the fire department.

Sadly, Maple Lawn ran into serious financial difficulty and sold the nursing home and HUD apartments to help pay off the debt. All that remains are the cottages and Noah's ark. Many good people gave many good years of service there. The closing of the VS unit was a real blow to the home.
