16 June 1944: flying from Courtland Army Air Field, AL, aviation cadet William G. Bainbridge was fatally injured when he bailed out of BT-13A serial 41-9723, having stalled and entered a spin. The aircraft crashed 2 miles north of Leighton Auxiliary Field.
