This is just below Headley Tarn, with the cliffs above Blue Lake visible in the background. Grazing in the high country was carried out for about a century. It was banned in the late 1950s - early 1960s. It has taken many decades for the Alpine environment to recover from the damage done by the hard hooves of cattle
