Date 12/5/13 in upper left. Rudolf Hober? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_H%c3%b6ber
  • Karen (LOC P&P) said:
Wow - you have very sharp eyes! Thanks for sending the date and first name. We'll add them to the catalog record when we update.
  • Francis W. Hoeber said:
This is NOT Rudolf Hoeber the physiologist (name originally spelled with an umlaut over the "o"). The image on the Wikipedia page is wrong, probably picked up erroneously from this LOC site. I know because Rudolf was my grandfather and I knew him when I was a child and have many pictures of him, none of which resemble this one. I have no idea who the man in this picture is, but it is not my grandfather.
  • Francis W. Hoeber said:
The Rudolf Hober entry in Wikipedia has now been corrected by removing the image shown here and replacing it with an image of the real Rudolf Hoeber.
  • Art Siegel said:
LOC, you should revise caption to reflect that the wrong Rudolf Hober was originally identified.

That is sweet! Nice to know people had senses of humor back then--even if it's a little twisted. ;)

It was probably a re-photographed photo-collage with color (ink or paint) added by hand.
