North American B-45C, s/n 48-009. Accepted by the USAF 22 March 1950. Delivered to the USAF 20 April 1950. Bailed to General Electric, Long Beach, CA 28 April 1950 (flying testbed for the J53 engine). Transferred to General Electric, Schenectady, NY 03 July 1951 (flying testbed for the GE J47, J73 and J79 jet engines) 1951-1957. To San Bernardino AMA, CA 11 May 1953. Returned to General Electric Schenectady, NY 29 June 1953. Converted to JB-45C 30 November 1955. Transferred to the United States Navy 29 April 1957.
