    This is not a 580. Those are not the Allison engines that marked a 580. These look like the Rolls Royce engines that were used on the 600 or 640 variant.

    This is a CV640, converted from a CV340. The CV580 was typically converted using the CV440 frame which had a sleeker, more rounded nose. I worked on and rode on this aircraft, N3407, in the 1980's at SMB Stage Lines, a cargo carrier. The aircraft went derelict in the late 1990's at Meacham Field in Ft Worth where it was eventually broken up around 2010. We also operated CV640's N3411 and N3412, all were original Braniff CV340's. Wow, those were the days!
