[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kemon01/12849798785/in/photostream/] Photo via Kemon01 It is said that the aircraft was redesigned as the high wing 'Arrowplane', which won the 1933 Safe Plane competition. Sources are vague to clarify the fact that the Arrowplane, I believe, was a completely different airframe, many photos of which exist. Unbelievably, the center section of the low-wing 'Whatsit' survives at the National Air and Space Museum in unrestored condition, which leads one to believe that NX12272 was never itself rebuilt as a high wing.
