Lord Wolseley is wearing the "Wolseley hat " which was created by himself (?).. .. hat not yet worn by the other officers on the picture .These officers are wearing the first " tropical hat " in service in the British army , specially in India . The "Wolseley hat' was in service from the beginning of the XX° century until the 30' th. Officially , the "pitt hat" ( like the polo head gear ) followed , but at the end of the 30th many batalions were equiped with the "Wolseley hat " on duty in India ,mainly. Curently the Wolseley hat is the official head gear of several British army bands ( For example : the Royal Marines ) Do you agree .?
