Monumental Inscriptions at Auchencairn Cemetery In glorious and most loving memory of Cyril Stuart Embrey, 2nd Lieut., South Staffordshire Regiment, killed in action in the Great War, 12th Oct. 1918, aged 20 years. He was awarded the Military Cross and was twice mentioned in dispatches for exceptional bravery in face of great difficulties. History records the exploits of his regiment. He engaged in battles which successfully broke through the Hindenburg Line, St. Quentin Canal etc. etc. and after having witnessed the final route of the German army he was killed by secreted machine gun. Oddly, this is supposedly after the line closed. This is the Cavan & Leitrim Railway as featured earlier in Ballinamore, which closed on March 31st 1959. www.flickr.com/photos/nlireland/16618218853/in/photostream/
