Remembering Skaubryn with a photo of a camel expedition? An interesting photo, however. Would you have a higher resolution copy to zoom in more?

Passenger ship, possibly MS SKAUBRYN, berthed at a wharf

The ship seen here is most likely the "M/S Skaubryn". The unusual setup of the superstructure with lifeboats so far forward make her recognizable. "Nordmark Film" was a German film production company that also did a short documentary film on the M/S Skaubryn in 1951 / 52. This photo might well be from that film, but it is somewhat unlikely that this was taken in Kiel. The M/S Skaubryn did several journeys to Australia departing from Nordenham. See also trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/27009910 In 1958 the M/S Skaubryn sailed again from Nordenham destined for Austalia carrying migrants, when on March 31 a fire broke out in the engine room while somewhere in the Indian Ocean. Apparently all passengers and crew were safely transferred to another ship, while the M/S Skaubryn suffered heavy damage and sank a few days later.
