Terracotta bas-relief by John Lockwood Kipling illustrating the story "Red Dog". There's a bigger, greyscaled and contrast-adjusted version here. When Mowgli's wolf pack is threatened by dhole (the red dogs of the title) he tricks the dhole-pack into chasing him off the edge of a river gorge lined with beehives. Mowgli has smeared his body with garlic so the bees will not attack him, but the dhole are not so lucky. Those that survive face drowning in the fast-flowing river or being killed by Mowgli. This thins the dhole's numbers just enough to be decisive in their final battle against Mowgli and the wolves.

It would appear this church is no longer there. The church in Vardø dates back to 1307 when the oldest known church was consecrated. Several churches have been on this site. The previous church from 1869 was burned down by the retreating Germans near the end of World War II. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vard%C3%B8_Church en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vard%C3%B8_(town)
