Robert W. (Bob) Henderson [photographer] (1914-2006) earned a BS in agronomy from Oregon State University in 1938, and served as a Farm Crops faculty member and Assistant Director of the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station from 1946 until his retirement in 1976. Henderson completed a masters degree at Cornell University and a Ph.D. in plant genetics at the University of Minnesota in 1949. Henderson was an avid photographer and carried a camera wherever he went on or off campus; he was well-known throughout Oregon for his slide presentations to schools and clubs on OSU's agricultural research.—OSU Archives

The Henderson collection holds a special space in my archivist heart: it was the first real on-site "records review" I did as a professional archivist! The Gazette Times article gave me a sense (likely limited ;) of what's involved with something like this! I bet every archivist wishes they had a "Arnold Appleby" !

So true! We have another woman right now, a retired OSU professor, who comes in with her scanner every Wednesday to scan photos-- we can all thank her for many of the Gerald Williams images in this very account...

"Operated by the Parsons family since 1908, Hillcrest is one of the oldest continuously-owned family orchards in the Rogue River Valley... Hillcrest Orchard was purchased by Reginald H. Parsons and Maude Bemis Parsons in 1908 from J. W. Perkins. Construction of new agricultural buildings and the addition of new plantings of several varieties of pears, apples, and peaches began quickly. "The Parsons family retained employees and kept the trees in healthy condition through the trying times of the Depression and World War II. After the deaths of Reginald and Maude in 1955, their four children administered the property followed by the couple’s eleven grandchildren, who now oversee operations.
