200,000 of the bricks required to build the original bridge and others along the line came from the Annandale Estate (p168, Marine Officer, Convict Wife by Alan Roberts). This indicates the original bridge was brick & stone.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/73199923@N00] The last of its class to survive, No 18 was used at Corrimal Coke and Coal Company until 1953 (having been in service for 88 years!) and you're right the locomotive is now preserved at the Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere. Thus the date of the photograph is, I suspect sometime in the mid to late-fifties.

However, the locomotive placed on display at Enfield was No 78 - and it too is now on display at the Rail Transport Museum.
