    She was usually known as C' Dora, for some reason- and her motorcycle is still around -

    It appears that she was more often known as Ce Dora at the time, as she has written on your photo. She was accompanied by another girl on a 2nd machine, at some point, but I wasn't able to discover the other girls name. I think the extra vertical support for the saddle was added sometime in 1917. This is certainly one of the best looking Indian motorcycles I've seen, and is very much like the racing machines they made at the time, but with a smaller 'torpedo' tank, as she wouldn't have needed much 'gas'!

    Indeed! Nice catch. There are other photos in the Springer collection from the New York-based Lumiere studio but we don't have any further information about it.
