    Interesting example of 'creative reusability/source confusion/plagiarism/early image bank' as this illustration also shows up in another BL scanned publication from the same year - p490 of 'The Australian Abroad' - this time depicting a Syrian carpenter – see www.flickr.com/photos/britishlibrary/11306903095/ Same image, two different publishers: one in London, one in Melbourne (with London office). Also, did the publishers presume that Indians and Syrians were interchangeable? I wonder whether it was used elsewhere - be interesting if anyone finds it elsewhere in the image database...
