Anybody out there know the make and model of this car? We assume it was new in 1957...

British Ford Anglia 100E. They used the name on different models. Conventional to the point of being antiquated. Cheap to make, cheap to sell, soon forgotten.

1172cc side valve (flat head) motor, 3 speed manual gearbox (drove like a 4 speed with 3rd gear missing), vacuum windscreen wipers - we had some great cars in Britain!

Okay, I changed my mind; I guess it is an Austin Healey. Like scott_clark said, the complete side of the car looks really more like an Austin Healey than an MGA - if you compare the photos on Google, you can see it clearly.

I might have been irritated, because you can see the MG-Sign in the window behind.

AKA Isabella. That's what Borgward called them, they didn't change the diamond on the grille after the new model came out.
