A very nice close up of 1/Lt Marion P Owens from 401FS (370FG). A 9AF outfit they flew P-38L until at least March 1945 when they changed to P-51D. Owens score of four painted on the aircraft were from 5 Nov 1944 ( 1 Bf 110) and 25 Feb 1945 (3 Bf 109), so photo must be post that date. At that date they were based in Belgium. At the same time 313TCG was based at Achiet in France. Is it possible to read the serial number? Since it is from the first production batch it should be in the range 44-23769 to 25058 Stig

Thanks again Alan So close and yet not conclusive. I read 44-24x88 and the x most likely digits 5, 6 or 8. Unfortunately 9thAF aircraft are much less well covered than those from the 8th. Stig
