He was an important councillor to Henry VIII and Lord Chancellor from October 1529 to 16 May 1532." However, this portrait is not very simlar to the well known portraits.

Judging from www.victorianweb.org/periodicals/iln/34.html (an illustration from the Illustrated London News of 26 October 1844, p 265, the image here is of the first Royal Exchange, dated 1569 and replaced by 1669
