To the right side of the frame is distinguished Naval Aviator, officer and test pilot Fred Trapnell. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_M._Trapnell Here is British Pathe newsreel footage of Fred Trapnell flying the prototype Vought XF7U-1 Cutlass. The newsreel is titled with a date of "1946." However, this is certainly a mistake, as the Cutlass's first flight took place in September 1948. YouTube: "British Pathé - Flying Wing And Rocket Plans (1946)"
