    I lived closed to this park after WW II at the age of 12 to 15 used to climb all over the walls ruins that had yet to be restored. Wonderful place and the restored La Bahia fort is across the San Antonio River and was also a great place to visit. And still is.

    The rectangle marked original site of La Bahia is still very much identifiable by the layout of the local roads and cemetery. The small square in the middle of La Bahia is the old fort. It was here that in 1836 Col. Fannin and his 300 men were imprisoned and later shot and killed. They are buried in a mass grave nearby.
