    This is indeed the Yak 38 "Forger" The Soviet naval attaches made the original "Yak 36" statement - in the 1976 press release as "Kiev" passed through the Bosporus straight - but it was not until the early 80's that the mistake was cleared up in the Eastern bloc aviation press and it was correctly identified as the Yak 38 "Forger" 30 years later it seems silly to play such guessing games - yet we are going through it all again with the Chinese.
