    North American FJ-3 Fury 135837? VF-154 ‘Grand Slammers’. Code H of CVG-15 (Carrier Air Group 15) side number 405. In overall gloss midnight blue. October 1956 change of command ceremony at NAS Moffett Field CA. Between July 1955 & July 1957 VF-154 flew the FJ-3 Fury. The squadron missed its deployment with CVG-15 on CVA-18 USS Wasp due to compressor problems with the FJ-3s engines It then transitioned to the Navy's first operational supersonic carrier aircraft, the F8U-1 Crusader.

    North American FJ-3 Fury’s of VF-211 ‘Red Checkertails’. 1956-1957 aboard CVA-31 USS Bon Homme Richard. Using the then tailcode ‘G’ of Carrier Air Group 21 (CVG-21) Side numbers 116 & 120. First flying the FJ-3 Fury, VF-211 was re-established at NAS Moffett Field in June 1955. During 1957-1958 it swopped over to the supersonic F8U-1 Crusader. From March 1959, VF-211 was renumbered to VF-24 and remained so until being disestablished in August 1996. Carrier Air Group 21 was established in July 1955. After complete modernisation and rebuild, CVA-31 USS Bon Homme Richard recommissioned on 6 September 1955 and began the first of a long series of 7th Fleet deployments on 16 August 1956 with CVG-21 embarked. Between 16 Aug 1956 & 28 February 1957, CVG-21 code ‘G’, deployed aboard USS Bon Homme Richard with FJ-3 equipped VF-211.
