John Sanders We don't know the exact year, but believe the date to be circa 1943.

Late 1943 or early 1944. They are D models with the dorsal fin. The first D models did not have a dorsal fin!

I agree with John, probably mid-44 at the earliest, as training units rarely got the newest mounts and these aircraft are bare metal as well (a late-war measure to save weight and cost in painting). I would really bet on later than that, perhaps even after the war due to the large 'buzz codes' on the sides. There's a recruiting slogan painted under the tail on each of these Mustangs, sure would like to see that closer.
