    Victor Henry Sylvester Scratchley was married to Anna Clementina (nee Harvey), they had one son, Peter John Scratchley, later Major who lived at Brooms Farm, Edenbridge, Kent.

    Gentleman Cadet V H S Scratchley was Commissioned from the Royal Military College as a Second Lieutenant in the KRRC on 25th March 1891. He was Gazetted his DSO on 19th April 1901.

    The KK after his name may refer to service in the Kaapse Korps (South African Cape Corps).

    Edward George Evans was commissioned from the Royal Military College into The King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) aged 21 on 19 May 1893. He went out to India to the 2nd Battalion The King's Own at Nasirabad and was a Subaltern there in Headquarters Company in 1894 and 1895. It is evident from his campaign ribbons that he subsequently served in South Africa during the Boer Wars as he has both the Queen's South Africa War Medal 1899-1900 and King's South Africa War Medal 1901. His National Archive Medal Index Card reveals that he went to France immediately after the outbreak of the First World War, arriving in theatre with the BEF on 20 Aug 1914, though his unit at that time is not shown. He received the 1914 (Mons) Star, Victory Medal and British War Medal in 1920. He is recorded as a Major commanding 6th Reserve Park Army Service Corps (a Horse Transport Company). And later as a Lieutenant Colonel as Commanding Officer of Royal Army Service Corps Sussex District. He was in fact awarded the Distinguished Service Order on 4 Jun 1917. [Supplement to LG 5469]. This photograph was probably taken soon after he received the award, when he would have been aged 45. He was married to Gertrude Jane Evans - but they divorced in 1920 (the co-respondent was a Charles Butler).//

    Reginald Henry Napier Settle was one of 3 Gentlemen Cadets Commissioned into the 19th Hussars from the Royal Military College on 3rd September 1910. He was Gazetted with the award of the Military Cross as a Captain on 2nd June 1916. He was awarded his DSO as a Captain (Temporary Major) in the New Year Honours of 1 January 1918. 21st Battalion Machine Gun Corps was formed on 24th February 1918 from the Machine Gun Companies of 21st Division.//
