    i have noticed that a search for "depression" across the flickr commons does not provide many results outside of the LOC collection, despite the words "depression era" being in this set's description.

    to attempt to rectify this, i've added "depression era" as a tag to all images in this set from 1939 and earlier. setting the end date for the depression in the united states is far beyond my expertise, so i picked an arbitrary date. if you think it is appropriate to add such a tag to all photos in the set, or you'd like me to remove some of my tags, do let me know.

    unfortunately flickr doesn't include set descriptions in its searches, so this is the only way to get these images to appear in a search for "depression". : [

    This sounds like an appropriate use of that tag. Incidentally, there has been some recent discussion around the issue of searching set descriptions on the Flickr Help Forum.
