    Looks like a grain grinder (not the exact same model, but a similar looking machine). So Dawson's may have been a flour mill.

    Woesinger Thank you! Dawson's may well have been a mill. From online searches, there seem to be a lot of Dawsons around Maynooth, and at one time there was a Castle Dawson...
