    This crater appears to have once been a Luftwaffe munitions bunker or revetment, with several aerial bombs and other ammunition scattered about. Note the single CG-13A and several CG-4A assault gliders tied down nearby.

    Stretchers fitted inside of a Waco CG-4A glider. Assault gliders in combat zones that survived intact after landing could be so equipped, and then recovered via an improvised airstrip or "snatched" back into flight, in order to recover those seriously wounded.
