If I ever make it to San Diego, the wife can tour the rest of the state of California ( except Edwareds and Vandenberg ) without me. I would love to spend a week or two, just browsing your photo files. Thank God that Convair had a better sense of history than Bell. There is almost nothing left of their history, except a few old buildings on the Buffalo Airport property ! I was an Atlas buff, since before I reached junior high school. Got to shoot a lot of the post-1969 Canaveral launches, myself. What a space booster it made !

Ed Dempsey We just received a grant to digitize many of the Atlas images, so we will be posting many more in the coming months!

SDASM Archives I hope the material on Thor and Jupiter meets the same fate, someday. These are the ":baby pictures" of the Space Age. Few in this generation seem to understand the value of history, or that the development of the ballistic missile made space exploration possible. Too much tendency to concentrate on the "dark side" and bemoan the MAD years.

Atlas 29D. Date: 05/13/1905

It is obvious that the date mentioned is not correct. Date should be around February 1960 as Atlas 29D was launched on the 26th of February 1960.
