The Center for Jewish History is the home of five preeminent Jewish institutions dedicated to history, culture, and art. It unites under one roof collections that bring together centuries of Jewish life: The American Jewish Historical Society, founded in 1892, has extensive collections of documents, books, paintings, and memorabilia that bear witness to the remarkable contributions of the American Jewish community to life in the Americas from the 16th century to the present.

The synagogue was on Patiky Street which was built in 1900. Early Jewish families on the street included the last names of Patiky, Goldberg, and Wisnarski. Kings Park Heritage Museum has more info. kpheritagemuseum.net/

Why would he be holding a rooster with what appears to be the face of Czar Nicholas II? Does it mean something to have one's face on a rooster?

I'm guessing it is possibly a reference to the kapparot ceremony, which would take place between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur: www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/kapparot.html
