This is on Manhattan's Canal Street, near the corner of Elizabeth Street--currently part of New York's Chinatown. Many of the buildings on the right side of the photo remain intact.

My grandfather Gustav Jost and his father Leopold Jost and mother Ephrosine ran this bar and lunchroom, and probably the whole hotel in 1900. The 1900 census shows them living at this address with six boarders and two servants.
